Apologies for being late with the teaser answer tonight, I've had a wee problem with the old 'puter.

So anyway let's cut right to the chase...

Coupled to various references to water, boats, wind-ups, etc.... I kind of thought maybe I'd pushed you all in the right direction.

Happy was on the right track when she said a lock gate... and Spicy was also on track with canal lock... a prize to both these lovely ladies.

It's a sluice gate mechanism... a wind-up thing!

Hello there teaser fans.

First of all I'd like to say how pleased I am to see so many people took part in the last teaser... just goes to prove you don't need me around to have a little fun.

This is what you were asked to identify and everyone who mentioned 'water' can give themselves a big pat on the back.

It isn't water being rained on and it isn't a stream-bed... it is sunlight being reflected off water, but that's not the answer I was looking for.

Here's the original image...

As you can see this is water cascading over a weir, but I didn't expect you to know that... the answer I was looking for was water over concrete...

On reflection maybe that was asking a bit much; what do you think? Am I being too hard on you?

Sorry I didn't get to post the answer to this last night... the day didn't quite go as planned and I was late getting back here.

So, we had lots of interesting answers yesterday... and quite a few that were close... but none that were close enough to win a prize, so I'm awarding myself the spoils on this occasion.

What was I?

Well I wasn't ribbons, aerial roots, dead leaves, saffron, old boot laces or "Dried leatherong."

I was something most of you will have seen every time you go to the shops, whether at the supermarket or the greengrocer....

Had you known your onions, you'd have spotted I was the dried up root structure of an Allium Cepa... or garden onion.
