Well we had a bit of fun with this teaser didn't we? Or perhaps it was just me having the fun? I do hope you enjoyed it too...

I tried so hard to give you clues this week too... not direct clues I'll admit... I still wanted you to think around the topic... :>>

Something for the Weekend No 54

As much as I'd have liked the above to be fossilized dino-turds, moth balls, dog biscuits, pea gravel, fungi or, heaven forbid, 1000yr old eggs of gnat found laid within your outer ear canal... it simply isn't so. :no:

Having told us he'd shot his bolt, Munzly finally cracked it. :))

It's a lowly wormcast sitting on moss between two paving slabs. :yes:

So Munzly, you win again. What prize will you grasp from this week's Virtual Prize Draw I wonder... and which image can I offer you for your desktop?

Well, I accept that I was at least "in the right ballpark," but I must admit to thinking it was more of an owl-pellet type of casting than that of a worm.

In a way, since it came out of a back-end rather than a gullet, it is more closely allied to excreta, which almost gives my first guess some merit - can ten-thousand year-old worm casts form coprolites? - who knows!

I do need a new wallpaper, so I'll take a look through your gorgeous photos and let you know.

    No. I don't even know what one is. Am I right in thinking it's like those long, raised lines of sand you see on the beach that look like little worms of sand. Personally I would have thought the Dinosaur poo would have been the right answer

  A wormcast is a cylindrical mass of earth voided by a burrowing earthworm, or a lugworm on a beach.
