It's a kind of nail, sprig ( are lots of them there in the pic. )...i dunno the name in english not finding it but i know what it is this one ...
...so, a kind of soft nail to attach, fix, things, as to attach for instance a cloth, tissue, to a piece of wood.

Ok, so, now not on the pin route...:
...what about when one breaks a thermometer..already happened to me LOOOOL.. and the mercury jumps off all around and do all those mercury balls 
are so funny and we want to catch them but we don't manage it? Is it on the picture? Just on the pic. there aren't only kind of metallic or mercury balls!...Well, it's just another guessing
What do you think?
