If you're an aspiring photographer I'd recommend the Nikon D200: a fabulous semi-professional digital SLR.
If you're looking for a good pocket sized snapshot camera, I'd recommend something like the Fuji E900 or Nikon Coolpix; there are loads of really fabulous small digicams around these days.
