Sorry I didn't get to post the answer to this last night... the day didn't quite go as planned and I was late getting back here.

So, we had lots of interesting answers yesterday... and quite a few that were close... but none that were close enough to win a prize, so I'm awarding myself the spoils on this occasion.

What was I?

Well I wasn't ribbons, aerial roots, dead leaves, saffron, old boot laces or "Dried leatherong."

I was something most of you will have seen every time you go to the shops, whether at the supermarket or the greengrocer....

Had you known your onions, you'd have spotted I was the dried up root structure of an Allium Cepa... or garden onion.

Well we had a bit of fun with this teaser didn't we? Or perhaps it was just me having the fun? I do hope you enjoyed it too...

I tried so hard to give you clues this week too... not direct clues I'll admit... I still wanted you to think around the topic...

Finally we have an answer close enough to be the winner.

As much as I'd have liked the above to be fossilized dino-turds, moth balls, dog biscuits, pea gravel, fungi or, heaven forbid, 1000yr old eggs of gnat found laid within your outer ear canal... it simply isn't so.

Having told us he'd shot his bolt, Munzly finally cracked it.
